Miss Tanzania, Miriam Odemba forced one line to wrap up her answer on the one defining question she had to tackle in the recently concluded
Miss Earth 2008. I remembered what Gracie Lou Freebush, Sandra Bullock’s role in the movie, Miss Congeniality where she replied on the question, “What is the one most important thing our society needs?” Her character answered,
“That would be harsher punishment for parole violators, Stan. And, world peace.” That made her got into the Top Five.

Last night, I was laughing out loud when I heard Miss Tanzania added her line, “And plant trees.”
Yes, it is relevant since the beauty pageant is all about environmental awareness. I knew with that answer, she’d end up the first runner-up to our very own Karla Paula Henry, Miss Philippines who went home with the crown bested other 84 candidates from around the globe. She wowed the audience with her wit and grace by her answer on what she would tell US president-elect Barack Obama about the state of the global environment if ever they were to meet.
"Environmental knowledge is something that all of us must share, but most importantly we must teach the youth that this is something that we should instill in them so that in the near future they will be the ones to take care of our mother Earth," Henry said.
