RESPECT, DECENCY and ETHICS These are three heavy words that most of us fail to observe. We all thought these three BIG words are just being practiced in the workplace. Of course not, it starts from us, with our immediate environment. Let me put it in a very simple manner. Respect is not easily given, it’s earned. I believe that. As a writer, as an individual, I worked hard for respect. In fact, I must say, I am even working at it even still—I am no J.K. Rowling or Nicholas Sparks or Nora Ephron or Stephen King or Neil Gaiman. I am Jude Cartalaba, a freelance writer. I respect myself being a freelance writer. Come Back to Me, Myself ... While watching the MTV of David Cook’s song titled ‘Come Back to Me’—I was kind of reminded me of the one person I loved for two years and so. The two stanzas in the song struck me: “You say you're leaving as you look away I know there's really nothing left to say Just know I'm here whenever you need me I'll wait for you
“So I'll let you go, I'll set you free And when you've seen what you need to see When you find you, come back to me.”Well, it’s not really like I will be waiting for that person like I’ve waited for my third ex. It’s actually waiting for the person I ‘once’ hold dear to finally mature and appreciate the things I’ve been trying to stress in the past. That day when I decided to let it go, it was also the start of a new journey for me—of finding what I ‘really’ want in life and what I do not want to have whenever I am in a relationship. 2009 was a mixture of joys and pains, bumpy and sets of victory as well, but as the year ended, I look forward to what 2010 has in store for me. Happy New Year! As we await the Blessed Hope (Titus 2:13), let us pray that in 2010 after all the challenges we encountered the rest of the world can cope. It is also my prayer that all of us will be abundant in all aspects of life. A life that is surrounded by the warmth of 'unconditional' love. A meaningful 2010 to you all! :-) CounterData.com Found Agency Counter |

I felt I need to share this Video ... this Christmas and He is the real reason why we celebrated the occasion in the first place to commemorate his 'unconditional love' for us all. ABS-CBN did a filling tribute to the Real Star and that is Jesus. What hooked me actually was the singing of the young talents, the kids--belting their angelic voices. I may sound preachy, but the rest of the world conspires and unites in this time of the year to give love, which we learned from Him. While watching the video, I've provided the lyrics for you to sing-along and dedicate the song to those who offered their time, talent and treasure to be the channels of Christ's light in times of our country's crises. ) |

Maria Stuart: The Imprisoned Queen! Dulaang UP opens its newest offering, Friedrich Schiller’s Maria Stuart under the direction of Tony Mabesa. The play is based on the life story of Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots—the famous rival of Elizabeth I to the throne of England. Stuart once claimed that she’s the queen of Scotland, France, England and Ireland. Despite all her efforts, she was never crowned Queen of England because she simply lacked that so-called political skills, maybe even if she lived today and be a Filipino politician, she’ll never ever stand a chance against our woman president, Her Excellency Madame Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Ana Abad Santos as the Queen Mary Stuart was perhaps befitting to breathe into the role. Her beauty, her regal bearing and strong personality make a good Mary Stuart. Santos made an effective rendition especially when she had an argument with Queen Elizabeth I, which was assumed by an equally competent, veteran stage actress, Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino. Putting together the two queens was one great act, particularly the scene where they met at Fotheringhay Castle (which according to actual accounts both queens never met). However, the playwright utilized the scene to put more emphasis on the ‘tension’ between the two queens, vying for the throne was a brilliant move though. One could feel the seething feeling of both women—Mary Stuart, the ‘rightful’ heir to the throne of England and Elizabeth I, the questioned and illegitimate queen of England like her mom, Anne Boleyn. Alone, At Last Finally, the roommate left. It was exactly a month and a day after my birthday. Rather than feeling guilty, I was firm, and I am glad that that being did leave the room yesterday. The place was messy and dirtied. I had to scrub the flooring with soap and Clorox to totally ward off what could have been left behind for me to inherit. Suddenly, it dawned on me, was that all the now ex-roommate was referring to when standing by the door and could hardly muster to say words before finally taking off, “Jude, you take care …” The roommate for like five months is a shadow in my past. Only time can tell if I would still consider that person as a friend or just someone who passed through my life like a wind, a wind that caused a splinter in my eye—good thing I was able to get rid of it. Last night, I had a good sleep alone in my room, at last. “Of course, I will take care. I will be happy that you are finally out.” Those were the very ‘mean’ words I wanted to launch back at her, but I said instead, “Yes, I will. You take care, too.” CounterData.com Found Agency Counter |

A Day Before ... On the day before my birthday, a lot of pains I need to go through, but I choose to shift and not dwell on the ‘negative’ things that are trying to overwhelm me. Indeed life is full of complications, but I choose not to see it as ‘complicated’ like the relationship status that one can find on social networking sites, particularly facebook. I choose to make my life simple despite its many idiosyncrasies I encountered. What I seek from you guys is to intercede for me, always. :-) CounterData.com Found Agency Counter |

JK Rowling speaks about Failure and Imagination! J.K. Rowling, author of the best-selling Harry Potter book series, delivers her Commencement Address, “The Fringe Benefits of Failure, and the Importance of Imagination,” at the Annual Meeting of the Harvard Alumni Association. To quote, JK Rowling, "If you choose to use your status and influence to raise your voice on behalf of those who have no voice; if you choose to identify not only with the powerful, but with the powerless; if you retain the ability to imagine yourself into the lives of those who do not have your advantages, then it will not only be your proud families who celebrate your existence, but thousands and millions of people whose reality you have helped change. We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better." CounterData.com Found Agency Counter |

Vilma Santos in an Endearing Gay Movie Indeed, when people get to hear ‘not-so-nice-feedback’ on a film, there are two possible reactions, first they won’t watch it or they either opted to go and check it out by themselves out of being intrigued. I fall on the second group. I do not normally get swayed by people’s point-of-view. I have to see it for myself and be the judge of it. Personally, the film is gay-themed piece handled in the most tasteful and light manner (even with the heavy scenes between Vilma as Shirley and John Lloyd as Noel). Perhaps, I must say this is one film that tackles homosexuality without having sexual and vulgar in its scenes. ( Read more... )CounterData.com Found Agency Counter |

Why is the TRUTH Ugly? First and foremost, I went to see the film because I just want to have a good laugh. It’s been awhile that I haven’t had the chance to watch another romantic comedy films. Now, that made me missed my friend, Lizza. We were really suckers of these types of films. Second, the movie combines equally gorgeous personalities in Hollywood. Who would not want godly Gerard Butler from '300'? What about Katherine Heigl who’s also a female lead of '27 Dresses', which I am sure most producers want to work with in Hollywood. Plus, the hunky Eric Winter of the ‘Brothers & Sisters' soap as the third party is part of the cast. Third, I am intrigued with the way how the story was presented at a corporate setting.
Heigl as Abby Richter is a producer of shows in a local network meets this ‘offensive’ but ‘irresistible’ being, Mike Chadway portrayed by Butler.
